Itinerary

Individual journey to the Baltic Sea town of Travemünde. Your hire bikes (if booked) will be waiting for you at the hotel. It is not without reason that Travemünde is known as ‘Lübeck's most beautiful daughter’. The Baltic seaside resort with the old lighthouse and Travemünde's landmark, the four-masted barque Passat, offers not only a long beach but also a beautiful old town with historic facades. End your first day with a cosy dinner (included).

Today we cycle along the Old Salt Road and the River Trave via Ovendorf, Pöppendorf (megalithic tomb and ring wall) and Bad Schwartau to the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. The old town of the Hanseatic city is well worth seeing, with the famous Holsten Gate and brick Gothic buildings such as the imposing Lübeck Town Hall and St Mary's Church, which has been a World Heritage Site since 1987. The return journey is by bike.

The train (included) takes you to Plön, the town between 200 lakes, beautiful landscapes, picturesque castles and historic towns. Today's tour takes you to Holstein Switzerland with its more than 150 lakes and beautiful deciduous forests. Charming places such as Malente, Eutin, Ratekau and Warnsdorf (Karl's adventure village) line your route to Travemünde.

Always parallel to the beach along the edge of the forest, the Lübeck route accompanies you via Warnkenhagen and Redewisch to the second oldest Baltic seaside resort, Boltenhagen. The spa promenade and the beach invite you to linger. Through the Klützer Winkel, past Bothmer Castle, you reach Priwall and continue by ferry (not included) to the hotel.

Via Warnsdorf and the north side of Lake Hemmelsdorf, you reach the most famous beach in Germany, Timmendorfer Strand.  It shines with its long fine sandy beach and crystal-clear Baltic Sea water. From mid-morning onwards, the entire town centre becomes a casual, relaxed open-air lounge. And this is exactly what gives Timmendorfer Strand its special flair. On the way back, you will walk past elegant beach villas towards Niendorf harbour, a typical East Holstein fishing village with a picturesque fishing port. You return to Travemünde via the steep Brodten shore, which is up to 20 metres high.

After breakfast, individual return journey or start of your extension.
