Individual arrival to Meiningen. Your hotel is situated in the historical theater city of Meiningen. A wonderful starting point of this tour. Take a stroll through the beautiful old town.

Let´s go! Follow the river Werra past the Wasungen with its defence wall and the half-timbered old town to Bad Salzungen. Enjoy the old town of Bad Salzungen.

You ride through the Thuringia Forest and along the Rhön. Enjoy a pause in the historical old town of Vacha. You cycle past Heringen to Dankmarshausen. Overnight in Dankmarshausen/Obersuhl.

A lot of lakes an nature reserve edge your way along the river Werra to Eisenach. Take time to visit the "Wartburg" and the place of activities of Bach and Luther.

You cycle through a wonderful low mountain rage landscape, past the vertically chalk cliff and medieval villages and towns. Enjoy in Creuzburg, Treffurt and Eschwege the charming half-timbered houses. Overnight in Eschwege.

Art along the bike path. Sculptures of well-known artist edge the riverside of the Werra-Meissner-Land. Enjoy a pause in Bad Sooden-Allendorf and have a baths in the saltwater spa. Through the land of cherries you cycle past Witzenhausen to Hann. Münden.

After breakfast, individual return journey or start of your extension.

Easy to moderate

The Werratal cycle trail runs mainly on traffic-free cycle paths and farm tracks (unpaved in places) or on roads with little traffic. There are only slight differences in altitude to overcome.

Parking at the start hotel: free of charge on the parking deck or in the underground car park for € 7,- per day (subject to availability, no reservation possible, payable on site)

Arrival / departure

Good journey by train to Meiningen.
Return transfer (Saturdays only) by minibus possible, duration approx. 3 hours, price € 109 per person. We charge € 40,- extra for the return transport of your own bike. Booking required.

You will stay in well-kept hotels, mainly in the 3- and 4-star category, as well as guesthouses. All rooms have a shower/WC or bath/WC.
