Weimar has a cultural and historical tradition that is unique in the world. Museums, memorials and churches are closely linked to an extremely interesting history and commemorate the life and work of many a famous personality. The thousand-year-old city of the classics knows many great names: Goethe, Schiller, Herder, Wieland, Lucas Cranach, Johann Sebastian Bach, Franz Liszt. Today, Weimar is a vibrant centre of art and science. Arrive early, because Weimar awaits you with cultural, historical and culinary delights in its magnificent city centre.

Today you cycle to the state capital Erfurt via the Thuringian Chain of Cities long-distance cycle route. On your way, you will pass through Niederzimmern, where you can take a short detour to the town's medieval watchtower, the ‘Wartturm’. Once you arrive in the state capital, it is worth visiting the Krämerbrücke bridge, the picturesque half-timbered houses, the famous cathedral and the medieval old town. You then travel back to Weimar via Bechstedtstraße with its Thuringian Organ Museum.

Cycle through the picturesque Ilm valley today, through Bad Berka with its Kneipp pool for cyclists' calves, past the Munich manor, via Kranichfeld with its two castles to Hohenfelden. This area is ideal for picnics and swimming. Take a boat trip through the popular local recreation area and visit one of the many cafés and restaurants that invite you to take a cosy break. The Thuringian open-air museum is also worth a visit.

After breakfast, individual return journey or extension. And we promised you that wherever your cycle tour takes you, you will be able to enjoy the good Thuringian cuisine and the warm Thuringian hospitality. We hope, of course, that you were able to try the Thuringian dumplings and the famous Thuringian Rostbratwurst sausage.
