Individual journey to Bamberg. You should start your cycle tour with a tour of the city of Emperor Henry II, who dreamed of, built and loved Bamberg. It is not without reason that UNESCO has awarded the entire historic centre of Bamberg the title of ‘World Heritage Site’.

Fans of beer will get their money's worth again today. You cycle through the main moorland forest and get to know up to 15 beer cellars, pubs and breweries on the beer cellar tour: Scenic beauty meets beer enjoyment.

The Main Cycle Route takes you from the beer region through vineyards to the ‘Wine Franconia’. You can look forward to many a good drop. Via the half-timbered and wine town of Zeil am Main, your route takes you to Haßfurt and the parish church of St Kilian with works by Tilman Riemenschneider. The train (not included) takes you back to Bamberg.

The train (not included) will take you to the wickerwork town of Lichtenfels today, where the River Main makes its first loops. Banz Abbey and the world-famous Vierzehnheiligen Basilica greet you from the mountain. You return to Bamberg via Bad Staffelstein with its market square and stately town houses.

You cycle to Burgebrach with its historic town centre and to the baroque castle Weißenstein am Steigerwald, which you will get to know on a guided tour. You cycle back to Bamberg through the Rauhe and Reiche Ebrach valleys.

After breakfast, individual return journey or start of your extension.

The cycle path runs almost exclusively along the banks of the Main, so the route is flat throughout and there are hardly any gradients to overcome. The paths are well developed, tarmac and well signposted. Also suitable for beginners and families.
