Hanse loop tour

Cultural landscape between the Weser and Elbe

The wide skies of the north and the eternal pulse of the tides accompany you on this tour between the Elbe and Weser rivers. Lush fruit trees will flank your path in the Altes Land, the Wadden Sea invites you to discover it; artists came to Worpswede and were inspired by the play of the tides and the flight of the clouds. You too will feel the magic of the coastal landscape. At the end, Bremen awaits you again. You sit on the Schlachte, full of impressions, drink a glass of wine and bring the journey to a close: rested and with a smile on your face.

Hanseatic way of life

It is clearly noticeable on Bremen's bustling market square. Here, the UNESCO World Heritage town hall and Roland statue shine in their former splendour. The town hall is a declared eye-catcher: it was built in 1404 and extended around 1612 with its impressive façade. In 2004, this jewel of the Weser Renaissance was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. Together with the Roland, Bremen's 5.55 metre high Statue of Liberty. Opposite it are the two towers of the cathedral, visible from afar. Like Bremen's landmark ‘the Bremen Town Musicians’, they are also part of Bremen's magnificent cityscape.

Itinerary

Individual journey to Bremen. Information meeting and bike handover (if booked) in the late afternoon.

You will then have the opportunity to take a stroll through the historic city centre.

Follow the Weser cycle path northwards. You cycle from Bremen to Bremerhaven, either along the Weser. Via Brake, Nordenham and onwards with the Blexen ferry (not included in the price) to Bremerhaven with its extensive harbour facilities, the Emigration Centre and the German Maritime Museum.

Or you can cycle the direct route (approx. 70 km / 43 mi).

Enjoy the colourful and lively impressions on this cycle stage. On tarmac paths and small roads through the Land Wursten before you reach Cuxhaven's dune coast and the famous harbour town.

With fresh sea air in your nose, you cycle along small roads and country lanes to the spa town of Bad Bederkesa. A beautiful bathing lake provides a refreshing dip after your cycle tour.

Along the Oste to 1000-year-old Stade with its historic town hall and town houses from the 16th and 17th centuries. The ‘most beautiful’ crane in Germany and the old ‘tree house’, a customs station with a barrier, are also a valuable part of the old town centre.

An extensive cycle tour through the largest closed fruit-growing area in Europe. Stately manor houses and well-kept farms accompany you to the municipality of Jork with its ‘Altländer half-timbered houses’ and the Gräfenhof - today's town hall. Today's stage ends in Buxtehude, the ‘town of fables and muses’.

On the Hamburg - Bremen cycle route, you can enjoy pure cycling pleasure and reach Zeven, also known as the ‘town on the forest’, via Hollenstedt and Sittensen.

After breakfast, individual return journey or start of your extension.
