Itinerary

Individual journey to Gersfeld until late afternoon. You will then receive your hire bikes (if booked) at the hotel.

A short transfer (10 km / 6 mi) takes you and your bikes up to the Wasserkuppe at 950 m (0.6 mi) in the morning at 9.30 am. Here you can enjoy the magnificent views and visit the German Gliding Museum before cycling to the Fulda spring and from there downhill along the young Fulda on the well-maintained cycle path. Full of anticipation for the historic Hotel Vorderburg in Schlitz, you cycle via Gersfeld through the marvellous landscape of the Rhön.

Today, discover the festival town of Bad Hersfeld with the largest Romanesque church ruins in Europe.
Take a break in the freely accessible Roman thermal baths of the spa town before experiencing one of the most beautiful sections of the Fulda Cycle Path and the half-timbered old town of Rotenburg a.d. Fulda. Now it's not far to Morschen, where the historic Hotel Kloster Haydau welcomes you.

In the morning, you will experience the first highlight and cross the river with your own muscle power in a gondola of the unique cyclist cable car in Germany. Another experience is Melsungen. This historic town on the Fulda impresses with its many lovingly restored half-timbered houses and the particularly beautiful half-timbered town hall, which is considered one of the most beautiful in Germany. Take your time to explore, as your destination for the day, Guxhagen, near the mouth of the Eder, and your special Hotel Bellini are within easy reach.

The Documenta city of Kassel awaits you today. Also visit the Fridericianum Museum and the
Orangery in the Karlsaue State Park, before continuing your leisurely ride to Hann. Münden. Look forward to the magic of the old town at the confluence of the Fulda and Werra rivers and an overnight stay at the Hotel Alter Packhof with its historic ambience.
