Itinerary

Individual journey to La Rochelle. Three historic towers flank the old harbour of La Rochelle. A very nice hotel in the centre awaits you. In the evening, there will be time for a stroll through the 1000-year-old harbour town.

Cycle along the rocky coast to the bay of Aiguillon, a centre of mussel farming. The Maison de la Mytiliculture is located in an old lighthouse, where you can learn more about mussels and the sea.

You cycle along an almost completely new cycle path to the coast. Today you will experience the popular seaside resort of Chatelaillon on France's Atlantic coast with its fine sandy beach and many charming ‘Belle Epoque’ villas on the seafront promenade. Cycle past the Château de Buzay and back to La Rochelle.

Cycle across a bridge over the sea to the island of Ré. The picturesque fishing villages of Rivedoux and La Flotte await you here, as do the harbour town of Saint Martin and many beaches. You return to La Rochelle in the evening.

Rochefort is characterised by its past as the war port of Louis IV. Sights here include the former town palaces and the former navy factory. Overnight stay in Rochefort.

Idyllic cycling on the way from Rochefort to your next accommodation in Bourcefranc or La Tremblade/Ronce les Bains (depending on your choice of category).

You cycle along a beautiful cycle path through a nature reserve, a nesting ground for many bird species. You then cycle on through the extensive pine forests with marvellous views of the sea. Take advantage of the many bathing opportunities along the way. The last section of the cycle path leads along the rocky coast to your hotel. Overnight stay in Royan.

Transfer from Royan back to La Rochelle. Afterwards, your individual return journey or start of your extension.

On the last day, you will be picked up after breakfast and transferred back to La Rochelle by train.
